Carmela Guida

Carmela has worked as a ballet teacher for many years in the UK, improving and opening her teaching to new ideas; creating an artistic, healthy and safe environment.

Before coming to the UK in 2002 from her native Italy, Carmela was concentrating on choreography and performance in shows. Carmela came to the UK to study at the Royal Academy of Dance to become a ballet teacher and had to stop her usual 6 days a week training to concentrate on theory, which led to a back injury. This is when she discovered the Pilates method.  Having realised the benefit for herself, Carmela decided to use that knowledge and experience to help people to improve their overall body posture, strength and flexibility and learn to develop focus and conscious control of each body movement, thereby restoring flexibility or recovery from injury.

Having completed a Pilates Foundation Comprehensive Teacher Training Course and a Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology, Carmela always combines her dance training with the study of Pilates to offer all the benefits to her client. Regardless of age and life background, through a detailed approach, Carmela ensures each tuition is designed for the individual client’s abilities and needs. Carmela draws upon her movement background to add an imaginative and balanced approach, creating safe, effective and enjoyable lessons.  Her warm personality shines through to establish a connection with each client and she has extensive knowledge and experience in injury recovery and pre and post-natal.

Mike Davies

Mike Davis has been qualified for over 18 years and has a wealth of experience in treating sports injuries and spinal (neck and back) pain. He has spent the majority of his time in private practice in London working with some of the top orthopaedic and spinal consultants in the UK.

He is a keen runner and as a consequence has a particular interest in running injuries and running based rehabilitation. His other strong interest is in shoulder pain and shoulder rehabilitation.

He uses a wide variety of treatment skills ranging from Acupuncture to joint manipulation plus massage and exercise therapy to alleviate and resolve symptoms such as pain and stiffness .

Mike believes strongly that it is essential not just to treat and resolve the patient’s symptoms-e.g pain, stiffness, swelling but also to analyse and correct their faulty posture and movement patterns. His experience in treating spinal conditions allied with his knowledge of the current evidence based research on the most effective exercises for spinal pain will give patients the best possible opportunity to gain strong healthy pain free spines.

For anyone with running injuries Mike can undertake a detailed biomechanical analysis of your running technique which often is one the causative factors leading to injury. With expert analysis Mike can help fine tune and improve your running pattern to make you a more efficient runner and ultimately less vulnerable to re-injury.

For those looking to lose weight who are unsure of how or where to start Mike can also offer advice based on the current scientific research on nutrition and he can dispel lots of common myths associated with weight loss and provide the most effective strategies for long term gradual weight loss and improved general health and conditioning.

Danielle Sharpling

I am a Level 3 Mat Pilates teacher who rediscovered Pilates in 2017. After years of sitting by a computer all day and managing an often stressful job and life, I was suffering from back ache, headaches and poor posture and wanted to try something other than just going for the usual workouts at the gym and together with a friend took up pilates at a local studio and was hooked from 1st session.

I love how pilates challenges your mind and body to make them work together to perform the exercises correctly and the benefits from the exercises are so valuable in daily life. Pilates has taught me to be more aware of how my body moves and feels and my posture and core strength has improved as a result. Doing regular pilates classes has really had a positive impact on my life. I wanted to learn more about Pilates and the exercises and wanted to share the benefits of Pilates with others which is why I decided to train as a pilates teacher – although I am qualified I continue to love attending regular classes myself and I am always looking to gain more knowledge and experience of pilates to bring into the classes I teach myself.

When I don’t do pilates, I love walking, going to the gym and spending time with friends and family. Reading and travelling are also favourites of mine.

Aafke Meelan

Aafke discovered Classical Pilates several years ago when her life was extremely hectic: living and working both in Brussels and London, her life consisted of a bi-weekly international commute, long stressful office hours and very little sleep.

She soon discovered that her weekly Pilates sessions played a large part in keeping her healthy and moving. After every session she felt stronger, more focused and with a better posture. She loved how Pilates cleared her mind, strengthened her body and sorted neck and lower back niggles from long working hours. Noticing colleagues and friends all working crazy hours and juggling busy work and life schedules, she wanted Pilates to help them in the way it had helped her.

In 2013 she decided to follow her passion for Pilates and undertook her full comprehensive Classical teacher training qualification in London completing the intense Classical training programme which includes over 700 hours of study and practise. She has been teaching Classical Pilates and taking continuing education training courses regularly, ever since. She believes in ensuring that everyone who comes to her sessions has a positive and fun movement experience whatever level, background or injury you may have. The Classical Pilates method follows the authentic and true work and system that Joseph Pilates himself created. It keeps your body safe whilst working through the exercises to stretch, strengthen and lengthen you – and regaining control over your body and movement.

She is now based at our Bracknell clinic. Ria has a crazy 5 year old boy called Dash that keeps her on toes. Her family and friends are the most important thing to her and she loves spending time with them when she isn’t rocking it on our Front Desk.

She has a passion for psychology, and an obsession with dogs! Danielle joined our team in 2018 shortly after graduating from Bournemouth University with a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology. Helen Simpson

Relocating from Australia and working in the fitness industry, I feel very privileged to be a part of such a fabulous team here in Windsor. The thing I love most about my job is chatting to the lovely clients that pass through each day, helping with their ‘feel good experience’ attending the practice. I also enjoy being able to sample each of the different instructors, classes and physio services, so I can help with any recommendations.

I am very passionate about women’s health and fitness. As a personal trainer/Certified pre & postnatal Fitness Coach I am enthusiastic about helping women stay healthy and strong during their pregnancy and recovery phase. I am a huge advocate for Pilates and the benefits of core/pelvic floor strengthening. This combined with physiotherapy and massage therapy is paramount to promoting better health for women.

A fan of many sports but mostly a netball tragic from a very young age. I follow the Australian Diamonds, but of course have a soft spot for the England’s Roses as some of them play in our National competition. During the winter season, back home you would often find me umpiring netball or courtside coaching and supporting young umpires. I gained a lot of satisfaction from seeing their skills improve each week and reach their desired goals.

Away from work I live locally in Windsor with my husband and Westie dog, who fits well in the Royal Borough as she is quite a Princess. My 2 adult children live in Sydney and I always look forward to them visiting and having some quality time together. On weekends I love going for drives and exploring nearby towns and interesting places. I enjoy riding my bike, going for long walks, seeking out the best coffee shops and of course sharing a wine with great friends.

Natasha Golec

Natasha joined our Windsor clinic in 2019.

Some of the things that Natasha really enjoys whilst being on the front is interacting with our clients, and being able to work with such a friendly team. When she is not at the studio, you can probably find her in the kitchen baking some sort of dessert! Other things she enjoys are painting, travelling, hanging out with friends and family, and working out (Pilates obviously!). She also a coffee over tea kind of person!

Julie Record

Julie joined The Berkshire clinics in September 2019.

She makes all of our clients feel very welcome the minute that they step through the door. Julie has a 19 year old daughter Maisie who is currently studying physiotherapy at Brunel. Maisie used to work at our Bracknell clinic and Julie took over her role when she headed for University. Outside of the clinic Julie has a small dog with a big attitude who keeps her busy. She also loves holidays, meeting friends, shopping, cinema, theatre and meeting people.

Julia Dalby

Julia first trained in Exercise to Music with the YMCA in 1997. She went on to qualify as a Pilates Instructor in 2001 with the Pilates Institute, and recently underwent further training with the Pilates Foundation.

Before becoming qualified to teach Pilates, Julia had been attending regular matwork classes. Having come from a fitness background, she quickly realised the benefit of doing Pilates: she found it immensely helpful for balancing the muscles of the body, for flexibility and of course for improving core stability.

Julia has been the longest member of the pilates team in Berkshire and enjoys seeing clients improving their health and body awareness under her care.
